French Defense Exchange Variation Puzzle (Rated 957): Fork — Exploit the Pin
A pinned piece is a defender in name only. When an enemy queen is skewered to its own king along an open line, it cannot capture, block, or retreat without exposing the monarch. That frozen defender is the foundation of a winning middlegame combination: your queen lands on a fork square giving check, and every loose piece becomes fair game. Because the pinned queen cannot answer the fork by capturing, your opponent must move the king first, buying a free tempo to collect the rook in the corner. The result is a decisive material swing.
