Learn How to Win a Fork: Crushing Tactic
This puzzle shows a classic opening tactic where active queen play punishes an exposed king and an undefended piece. In the English Opening Symmetrical Variation, development and king safety matter more than slow pawn moves. White’s queen invades with tempo, creating a direct threat that forces a weakening pawn response. Once the king’s shelter is compromised, the loose bishop becomes vulnerable and White can win material with a forcing sequence. It is a strong example of a crushing tactical refutation in the opening.
