Learn How to Clear the King: Decisive Tactical Refutation
This puzzle comes from the English Opening and shows how a small lead in development can turn into a decisive tactical refutation. Black’s pieces coordinate around the enemy king, using a forcing check to drag the king into an exposed square and open lines for the heavy pieces. The key idea is clearance: one piece is removed or deflected so another attacker can invade with tempo. In classical chess, these long forcing sequences often outweigh static material.
