Learn How to Deflect: Crushing Tactic
This puzzle comes from the English Defense and shows a classic middlegame attacking pattern: deflection. Black’s queen has invaded the kingside, and White’s king is already under heavy pressure because the pawn shield is weakened and key defenders are overloaded. The winning idea is to force a defender away from an important square, opening a direct line to the king and the queen. In practical classical chess, these motifs often decide games instantly when the enemy king is exposed.
