Learn How to Win Material: Intermezzo Tactic
This puzzle shows a classic intermezzo idea in the Czech Defense: instead of recapturing immediately, the stronger side uses a forcing move to improve the position and win material. The key is that the opponent’s last move created a tactical weakness around the king and loose pieces. In classical chess, these short forcing sequences often decide the middlegame before the endgame even begins, especially when one king is still in the center and pieces are hanging.
