Learn How to Win Material: Crushing Fork
This puzzle comes from the Caro-Kann Defense and shows a classic opening tactic where activity and king safety matter more than raw material. Black can exploit the exposed white king and the awkward placement of White’s bishop and queen to create a forcing sequence that wins material. The key idea is a tactical refutation: a check that also improves piece activity, followed by pressure on an undefended piece. In classical chess, these short combinations often decide the opening before development is complete.
