Learn How to Win Material: Discovered Attack
This puzzle comes from the Alekhine Defense and shows a classic middlegame tactical idea: using a discovered attack to win material while forcing the opponent’s king into an awkward position. The key is that one piece can move with tempo, uncovering a stronger line of attack from another piece behind it. In practical classical chess, these motifs often appear when queens, bishops, and kings are aligned on the same file, rank, or diagonal, creating tactical pressure and forcing simplification.
