Learn How to Spot Mate in 2: Kingside Attack
This puzzle comes from the Vienna Game and shows a classic kingside attack where the defender’s king is exposed and the dark squares around it are vulnerable. The key idea is to use forcing checks to keep the enemy king boxed in and to coordinate the queen with supporting pieces so escape squares disappear. In tactical terms, this is a short mating net: once the first check lands, the reply is essentially forced and the final attack becomes unavoidable.
