Learn How to Corner Mate: Mate in 1
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of a corner mate: the enemy king is boxed in by its own pieces and vulnerable to a forcing knight jump. Even though Black has the material edge, White’s active pieces create a direct mating net that overrides static evaluation. In classical chess, these tactical shots often appear when a strong outpost and a loose back rank or trapped king combine into a one-move finish.
