Learn How to Spot: Mate in 1
This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of a direct mating net where active pieces coordinate against a weakened king. White’s queen and rook already create pressure around the enemy king, and the bishop has a powerful route to the decisive square. Even though Black is materially ahead, king safety overrides material here. In classical chess, these one-move finishes often appear when the opponent’s back rank, pawn shield, or escape squares are badly compromised.
