Learn How to Spot: Mate in 1
This puzzle comes from the Scandinavian Defense and shows how a middlegame king can be punished when the position is already tactically unstable. White’s queen and bishop work together to create strong pressure around the enemy king, and the key idea is to recognize when the opponent’s king has no safe squares left. In classical chess, these mating patterns often appear after the defender’s pieces are overloaded or too far away to help.
