Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: King Safety
This puzzle is a classic king-safety lesson from the Reti Opening: White’s pieces are ideally placed to exploit an exposed king and a loose defensive setup. Even though Black has extra material, that advantage is irrelevant when the king is vulnerable and the mating net is already in place. In positions like this, the strongest move is often a forcing one that ends the game immediately, especially when the opponent’s pieces are overloaded or unable to cover key squares.
