Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Queen Sacrifice
This middlegame puzzle is a classic king-safety lesson: when the enemy king’s shelter is weakened, a queen can sometimes deliver immediate checkmate on a nearby square. Even if one side is materially ahead, that advantage means little if the king is boxed in and key escape squares are covered. In classical chess, tactical awareness often outweighs material count when the position contains a direct mating net and the opponent’s pieces cannot help.
