Learn How to Spot Corner Mate: Mate in 1
This puzzle comes from the Queen's Gambit Declined, Marshall Defense and shows a classic corner-mate pattern in the opening. The key idea is that a knight can exploit the edge of the board when the enemy king lacks safe squares and nearby defenders are overloaded. Even in classical chess, a seemingly active piece can become a tactical liability if it blocks escape routes or leaves the king boxed in. Recognizing these mating nets is a big part of tactical awareness.
