Learn How to Coerce a Mate in 8: Chess Endgame Puzzle
This puzzle is a classic example of coercion in a chess endgame: the attacking side uses forcing checks and threats to drive the enemy king into a shrinking box. Even when material is close, king safety can outweigh everything else if the defender’s pieces are awkwardly placed and the king has limited flight squares. The key idea is to keep the initiative and never allow the defender time to organize counterplay.
