Learn How to Spot a Kingside Attack: Mate in 5
This puzzle is a classic kingside attack where active rook and queen coordination overwhelms the enemy king. The position is already tactically loaded: White’s king is slightly exposed, but Black’s pieces are ideally placed to exploit open lines and force a mating net. In chess endgame and middlegame transitions, these patterns often come from removing defenders, using checks to drive the king, and then switching to a final mating square. The key is recognizing when material is secondary to king safety and forcing play.
