Learn How to Spot Mate in 2: Kingside Attack
This puzzle is a classic kingside attack pattern where the defender’s king is vulnerable because the back rank and nearby squares are overloaded. Even in a middlegame with plenty of material on the board, tactical motifs can override static evaluation. The key idea is to notice when a forcing move creates a direct threat that cannot be met safely. Once the king’s shelter is compromised, a mating net can appear very quickly, especially when pieces coordinate on the h-file and dark squares.
