Learn How to Spot Mate in 2: Caro-Kann Tactics
This puzzle is a classic middlegame king-safety tactic from the Caro-Kann Defense. White’s pieces are ideally placed to exploit the exposed black king, with the queen and bishop coordinating on dangerous diagonals and the knight supporting the attack. Even though Black has extra material, that advantage is irrelevant when the king is stuck in the center and key defensive squares are overloaded. In classical chess, forcing moves often outweigh material when the enemy king has no safe shelter.
