Learn How to Mate in 1: Caro-Kann Attack
This puzzle comes from a sharp middlegame in the Caro-Kann Defense, Advance Variation, where one side’s king is stuck in the center and the back rank is dangerously loose. Even with a huge material deficit, tactical pressure can outweigh everything when the enemy king has no safe squares. The key idea is recognizing a mating net: active queen and bishop coordination can end the game immediately if the opponent’s pieces are overloaded or unable to give meaningful defense.
