Learn How to Spot: Mate in 3
This puzzle comes from the King’s Pawn Game, Leonardis Variation, and shows how an exposed king can be punished when development and king safety are lagging. Even with material in White’s favor, Black’s active pieces create a direct mating net. The key idea is that checks can override static material count when the king has few safe squares and the opponent’s pieces are poorly coordinated. In classical chess, these forcing patterns often decide the game immediately.
