Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: King Safety
This middlegame puzzle comes from the King’s Gambit Accepted and shows how quickly king safety can collapse when the enemy king is boxed in by its own pieces and pawns. White’s pieces are active, the queen and bishop coordinate on key dark squares, and the black king has very limited escape squares. The position is a classic example of a forcing tactical finish: when the opponent’s king is exposed, even a single tempo can decide the game immediately.
