Learn How to Kill Box Mate: Mate in 1
This middlegame puzzle is a pure mating pattern where the attacking side has built a tight kill box around the enemy king. The key idea is that the king’s escape squares are already controlled, so a single forcing move ends the game immediately. In classical chess, these positions reward pattern recognition more than calculation: once the back rank and nearby squares are sealed, the mating move becomes obvious. The position also shows how king safety can outweigh material.
