Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Queen Tactic

This middlegame puzzle is a classic example of a mating net built from active piece placement and an exposed king. White’s queen and rook are coordinated to exploit weak dark squares and the lack of pawn cover around Black’s king. Even though Black is materially ahead, king safety overrides material here. In classical chess, these positions reward direct calculation: when the enemy king has no flight squares and key defenders are overloaded, a forcing queen move can end the game immediately.
