Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Kingside Attack
This puzzle is a classic kingside attack example in a middlegame setting, where the defending king has very little breathing room. The key idea is to recognize when the enemy king’s shelter has been stripped away and the final checkmating square is available. Even with material roughly balanced, king safety can outweigh everything else. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when heavy pieces coordinate on the h-file and nearby defenders are overloaded or pinned.
