Learn How to Hook Mate: Mate in 2
This chess endgame puzzle shows a classic hook mate pattern: one rook gives check while the other rook cuts off escape squares and finishes the attack. Even though Black has extra material, the king is boxed in and the active white rook can exploit the exposed back rank and nearby weak squares. In classical chess, these short tactical finishes often appear when the enemy king has no safe flight squares and a forcing check becomes decisive.
