Learn How to Spot: Mate in 3
This puzzle comes from the French Defense Tarrasch Variation and shows how an exposed king can be punished with a forcing mating attack. White’s pieces are coordinated around the central king, and the position is rich in tactical motifs like discovered check, bishop activity, and king safety. Even though the material is level, the black king is stuck in the center and vulnerable to a direct assault. In classical chess, these are the kinds of positions where one accurate forcing line can decide everything.
