Learn How to Spot a Kingside Attack: Mate in 2
This puzzle shows a classic kingside attack where White’s queen and bishop coordinate against the enemy king’s shelter. The position comes from the English Opening, and the key idea is that the king’s pawn cover has been weakened enough for a forcing mating net. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when one side has active pieces, open lines toward the king, and the defender is short of useful squares. The attack works because every move is forcing and the king’s escape routes are extremely limited.
