Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Corner Mate
This puzzle comes from the Slav Defense and shows a classic middlegame tactical finish: a corner mate. The key idea is that the enemy king has very limited escape squares, while one of your pieces jumps into a dominant square that attacks the king and also covers the flight squares. In positions like this, material count matters less than king safety and piece coordination. Even when the position looks roughly balanced, a single forcing move can end the game immediately.
