Learn How to Corner Mate: Endgame Checkmate
Corner mate is a classic chess endgame pattern where the king is driven to the edge and then boxed in by a knight or bishop-supported attack. In this puzzle, the key idea is that the enemy king has very limited escape squares, so a single forcing move ends the game immediately. These positions reward pattern recognition: when a king is trapped near the corner, always look for direct checks that also cover the flight squares.
