Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Bishop Checkmate
This middlegame puzzle comes from the Benoni Defense and shows how a well-placed bishop can finish the game immediately when the enemy king is exposed. Even though Black is materially ahead, the position is dominated by king safety and tactical vulnerability. In classical chess, that means static material can be irrelevant if the king is trapped and key escape squares are covered. The lesson is to always check for forcing moves before considering material balance.
