Learn How to Spot a Mate in 1: Alekhine Defense
This puzzle comes from the Alekhine Defense and shows a classic opening trap where king safety matters more than material. White’s pieces are already aimed at the vulnerable f7 square, and the position rewards fast tactical awareness over slow development. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when the king is stuck in the center and key defenders are overloaded or pinned. Spotting the mating net quickly is the whole point of the exercise.
