Learn How to Spot a Mate in 2: Kingside Attack
This puzzle is a classic kingside attack pattern where the defender’s king is overloaded and the h-file becomes fatal. White’s queen and rook coordinate to create a mating net, while the black king’s shelter is stripped away by a tactical sacrifice. Even though the material balance may look acceptable, the position is decided by king safety and forcing moves. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when a queen invades the enemy king zone and the rook joins with tempo.
