Learn How to Deflect the Defender: Endgame Tactic
This puzzle is a classic example of a deflection idea in a simplified position. White is under pressure materially, but the opponent’s queen is overworked and can be lured away from a key defensive task. The key is to notice that forcing moves often matter more than material count in the chess endgame and middlegame alike. When a defender is pinned or tied to one square, a tactical shot can suddenly win back the game by removing the critical guard.
