Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Classical Chess Tactic
This puzzle comes from the Alekhine Defense and shows how quickly a middlegame can collapse when king safety is ignored. White’s pieces are active, the black king is still stuck in the center, and one loose defender creates a tactical opening. Even though material may look balanced or even favorable for Black, the position is dominated by threats against the king. In classical chess, activity and coordination often matter more than extra material when the enemy king is exposed.
