Learn How to Spot Mate in 2: Kingside Attack
This puzzle is a classic example of a forcing kingside attack where the attacking side uses the enemy king’s limited escape squares against it. Even though the position is a middlegame, the finish is pure tactical calculation: checks come first, and the defender has no time to organize counterplay. In classical chess, these patterns often appear when the king is boxed in by its own pieces and pawns, creating a mating net that ends the game immediately.
