Learn How to Deflect the King: Mate in 2
This puzzle is a classic deflection mate pattern in a sharp middlegame. White’s attacking pieces are aimed at the king zone, and the key idea is to lure the defender away from a critical square so the final checkmate becomes unavoidable. Even though White is materially behind, active piece placement and king safety outweigh the material deficit. The position rewards forcing play, especially when the opponent’s king has limited escape squares and a key defender can be overloaded or removed.
