Learn How to Spot Mate in 1: Kingside Attack
This puzzle is a classic middlegame mating pattern where the attack is aimed directly at the enemy king’s shelter. Even with material down, White can win immediately because the king’s defenders are overloaded and the dark squares around the king are vulnerable. In classical chess, these positions reward pattern recognition over calculation depth: if the king is boxed in and key escape squares are covered, a forcing check can end the game at once.
