Learn How to Spot a Mate in 1: Endgame Checkmate
This puzzle is a classic chess endgame-style mating net, even though the board still has plenty of pieces. The key idea is that king safety matters more than material when the enemy king is boxed in and your queen has direct access to the final mating square. In classical chess, these patterns often appear after a trigger move that leaves the king with no flight squares and no useful defense. Once the net is complete, the finish is immediate and forcing.
