Stalemate In Rook Endgames Puzzle: Trade Rooks — Rook Fork

In a rook endgame, an active rook can create tactical value even when your side is down material. A checking move may attack the opposing king and rook at the same time, creating a fork that forces a reply. The key idea is not always to keep the attacking rook. Sometimes the threat lets you exchange rooks on favorable terms and reduce Black’s extra-pawn advantage. Active piece placement and forcing checks matter more than passively defending every pawn.
